Plate Glass Prophet
02:15
|

I counted back the hours
Picking petals from the flowers
She loves me, she loves me not
Fingers crossed behind her back
Braced for the attack
It was over sooner than I thought
It must have been a dream
When she came back to me
There was no in between
Just then and now
I'll blend into the static
I am a plate glass prophet
I want to be out of sight
This must be a dream
It all feels so surreal
As I walk around lonely
Did you ever even find me?
The end of the world will come at dawn
So, I'll love you until the night runs out
Catch me in the loneliest days
Kill me in a different way

With Hindsight
03:01
|

We waited years to get to where we are
Now we've reached the end i think we reached too far
Nothing left but shadows of answers that we found
Now we stand much shorter with both feet on the ground
Thinking we were timeless, we lived way beyond our means
Immune to eternity or so it all seemed
We better leave through the back door, hide what we have done
Find somewhere to sleep now we no longer need to run
Unless we're running from our secrets
They'll catch up with us in time
At least we did some damage
And at least we lost our minds
We threw ourselves over, busted up in the dark
Never fully certain, doomed from the start
At the melancholy mornings, pounding in our brains
Bloodshot eyes staring in this overplayed game
Hell-bent on a nightmare long into the day
Why'd you ever leave me that morning in May?
Who did you become as my back was turned?
Studying with hindsight but still no lessons learned
And we're still running running from our secrets
They'll catch up with us in time
At least we did some damage
And at least we lost our minds
Still running running from our secrets
They'll catch up with us in time
At least we did some damage
And at least we lost our minds

Days Like These
03:07
|
|||
I walk the train line home as the dawn is creeping out
I wasn't looking for you, now i can't be without
I stare down your street as I pass it every morning
I know you're not home but what else can I do?
The girl with the flowers in her hair
Has disappeared again
You made me feel better then you drove me away
You slept so soundly as you dreamt me away
Maybe it's the difference in the years or not having you here with me
But I feel like a child on days like these
You were painted like a sunset
Ivy crept down you're face
Planted, soft as velvet
As I stood misplaced
Parked up in the steam show
No one could see us there
So, why not now? Why not here?
Imprisoned in your fear
Did you leave the lights on?
Did you leave the lights on?
You said let's start a fire and drink more wine
In the depths of a summer, let's hibernate inside
I should have seen it coming, it couldn't be this good
You were the flash of lightning that comes before a flood
Did you leave me outside?
Did you leave me outside?
Maybe I'm still strung out to the sound of rustling leaves
But I feel like a child on days like these

Snake in the Grass
02:45
|
|||
You were a snake in the grass
In a summer that couldn't last
I was a stranger walking around the room
Love couldn't come too soon
I'll never know your name
Still I'll love you all the same
Another moth to your flame
Another night
You were the girl by the sea
So far away from me
Carried by a wave
Into a dream where we're all saved
I'll never forget you dear
As I walk away from here
A course to sharp to steer
To safety
Would you ever follow me
If I said we could be free?
As the clock unwinds
We're stranded out of time
Though I feel happier
It's a little bit unfair
No one to stop and stare
As we go dancing
So go tell all your friends
My innocence will end
For I am growing old
In a story never told
Will you listen to the bells
Ring for the man who fell
Into the depths of hell
So lonely?

Scratch Cards
02:31
|
|||
You should stay in touch
We should meet more often
You shouldn't disappear like that so much
Remember how you found me
Found me in the dark
Cause I reeked of cigarettes and whiskey
How could i be honest?
I couldn't ask you not to go
So farewell
Farewell so
You should brush your hair
You should clean your house out
Looks like it's gonna rain out there
Did you have a good time
Dancing at the party?
Who let you in when you lost your keys?
I wish I could have been there
But how was I to know?
So farewell
Farewell so
You bought your scratch cards
Filled up your flask
So you'd be rich and drunk when you arrived
I hope someday you'll write
Maybe I'll get lucky
I'll see you after the show
So farewell
So farewell
Farewell so
